Job summary

We are expanding our service and looking to recruit another ACP. We will also consider current trainee ACP's that are part-way into their MSc. The post will initially be working at Heartlands Hospital, and the ACP role will support the consultants in the running of the cardiology wards/CCU and take the lead within our Assessment Area. This assessment area is key to the functioning of the front door for cardiology patients and due to its success, we are looking to develop the job plan to include rotation to Good Hope Hospital Cardiology directorate to help develop a similar front door service. The role is full time and will include 7 day working including twilight hours as part of the rotation.

Trained ACP:

*Applicants will already have an MSc in Advanced Practice, have extensive experience as a Band 7 or above, and will already be working as a clinician in cardiology or a clinically relevant specialty (Acute or Emergency medicine).

Trainee ACP:

*Applicants will already have started an MSc in Advanced Practice, or be ready to start in September, have experience as a senior HCP, and will already be working in cardiology or a clinically relevant specialty (Acute or Emergency medicine).

We will consider applications from training ACP's who have completed year 1 of their MSc and are on their way to completing their ACAT assessment to be a qualified ACP. Qualified ACP's also welcome from AHP backgrounds.

Main duties of the job

*The post holder will demonstrate a high level of expertise within the specialist service providing advice, education and support to staff, patients, their families and carers.

*The post holder will be practising autonomously as an advanced practitioner within the designated speciality area to provide patient-centred clinical care. This will encompass the skills of advanced clinical assessment, examination, diagnosis and treatment within an agreed scope of practice throughout the division.

*The post holder will support new ways of working that emphasises a more efficient and patient focused service, and will ensure the safe treatment, referral and discharge of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed presentations in their area.

*Responsibility for leading the on-going development of clinical practice and standards of care within the service, including the development of policies, procedures, protocols and guidelines in collaboration with multidisciplinary colleagues.

*The post holder will be required to adhere to all aspects of the ACP Governance standards and procedures document.

*The post holder will deliver a 90% clinical component to their role and 10% related to appraisal, clinical audit, teaching, self-development and research.
