Job summary
This is a new and extremely exciting opportunity for a keen individual who is looking for a challenge and to develop their skills and knowledge in a specialist area. The post involves being a part of the region's largest HIV and the country's largest sexual health services and provides a platform to develop the pharmacist role even further within these specialties.
The role focuses on providing a high quality, safe and patient focused clinical pharmacy service within HIV and sexual health and to meet professional and Trust standards. The post holder will develop specialist knowledge of sexual health and HIV and promote the practice of evidence-based medicine.
There will be a significant patient facing aspect of the role within HIV clinics and involvement in adherence support, switching medication and pharmacist led clinics.
The role also includes the management of the Umbrella formulary, development and implementation of Patient Group Directions (PGDs) as well as Clinical Guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and other medicines related documents.
The pharmacist will also participate in various Multidisciplinary Team Meetings (MDTs), including the PrEP MDT and the weekly HIV MDT, amongst others.
This post is split between the HIV service at QEH and the Umbrella Sexual Health service at Whittall Street.
Main duties of the job
*Leads and delivers the day-to-day clinical pharmacy service to the HIV and Sexual health clinical speciality services through a team approach
*Acts as the lead for pharmacy service to the speciality
*Alongside counterparts in specialist services on site and other sites provide clinical support to the speciality to deliver safe, effective and economic use of medicines.
*Interprets the needs of the specialty and negotiates a range of pharmacy services to meet them. Represents pharmacy to the specialty and ensures pharmacy and medicines management are taken account of in the specialty's development plans and day-to-day operation.
*Plans and implements developments to the pharmacy service to the specialty.
*Represents pharmacy in relevant specialist networks, and in joint work with our locality Primary Care Trusts and other bodies at local or regional level.
*Line manages Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians, Pharmacy Assistants, Trainee Pharmacists and Undergraduate Pharmacists seconded to the specialty for experience
*To take full part in clinical rota and bank holidays duties.

- *Vocational Masters degree in pharmacy (or equivalent)
- *Membership of the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
- *Has completed a postgraduate clinical pharmacy qualification or equivalent advanced practice.
- *To be willing to work towards a non-medical prescribing qualification
Desirable
- *Has completed a non-medical prescribing course and registered as an NMP with the GPhC
- *Working towards Level I Faculty Membership with the RPS

- *Possesses relevant clinical knowledge in complex clinical pharmacy settings
- *Previous participation in multi-disciplinary team
