An exciting opportunity for career development has arisen for someone interested in pursuing a career in children's safeguarding. Working as a children's safeguarding nurse within University Hospital Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust.
The post holder will work closely with the Clinical Nurse Specialists for safeguarding, the Named Nurses and Lead Nurse, the organisation, and its workforce to ensure the organisation follows all statutory safeguarding guidance and improves the outcomes and promotes the welfare of children, and families at risk of abuse , as well as working closely alongside the Safeguarding Adults team to promote a Think Family Approach.
Based within the safeguarding team, the post holder will support the safeguarding children nurse specialist team, managing safeguarding cases across the organisation and contributing to the delivery of training, supervision, and general safeguarding activities. This will include promoting best practice, implementing standards and monitoring processes in line with both national and local guidance.
The post holder will be a visible role model, providing clinical support and practical guidance to wards and departments across the Trust.
Main duties of the job
The band 6 children nurse will work as part of the organisations Safeguarding Team, providing specialist advice and support to staff as appropriate in cases of actual or suspected abuse or neglect under supervision from the team to escalate as appropriate to senior safeguarding staff is required.
The Band 6 will support daily safeguarding ward visits in specific clinical settings, training updates for staffing groups, complete audits in clinical areas of safeguarding knowledge, and build up relationships with key staff members to embed safeguarding learning within clinical areas.
The Band 6 will work with the Safeguarding Children Nurse Team to prepare cases, attend and participate in strategy meetings, professional meetings, discharge planning meetings, and supervision meetings.
The Band 6 will deliver Level 3 safeguarding training to key identified clinical staff to promote safeguarding knowledge and skills across the trust.
