Job summary
This role is based at the central mattress stores at Yardley Green Stores. The candidate will be decontaminating mattresses that have been used to get them returned into use in a timely manner.
Main duties of the job
Decontamination of equipment. Monitoring numbers of devices that are available for each of the hospital sites. Maintaining a clean and tidy workshop area in line with clinical standards.

- *3 GCSEs at grade C or above including English and Maths or NVQ level 2
- *Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications inc Word, Excel, Access
- *Prepared to pursue self-development
Experience

- *Experience of working in a stores environment and/or working with the public in a customer focused capacity
- *Previous experience as a team worker and ability to work on own initiative.
- *Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and privacy and dignity
- *Keen interest in medical equipment and patient welfare
Desirable
- *Understanding of pressure ulcers

- *Ability to safely move and handle a range of bulky equipment using trolley provided
- *Good written and verbal communication skills

The job typically involves bending, crawling, kneeling, and working in cramped conditions and repositioning patients. These activities are carried out frequently throughout the working day.
- Mental Effort
- Need to respond to urgent requests from all clinical areas and meet deadlines of timely equipment delivery frequently throughout each working day. Concentration required for accurate data input. Regular use of computer during each working day.
- Emotional Effort
- Visit all clinical areas to deliver and collect equipment including Oncology, Neurology, Critical Care and Burns and Plastics on a daily basis and therefore are frequently exposed to distressing situations and/or those of a confidential nature. Have direct contact with patients, including military patients and relatives when monitoring what equipment they are on and are often asked to provide information regarding this.
- Normal Working Conditions
- Frequent exposure too unpleasant conditions such as:
- *Dirty and smelly equipment (in direct contact)
- *Hazards
- *Dust
- *Fumes
- *Body fluids externally/internally in equipment
- *Compressed gases
- *Unavoidable exposure to electrical hazards.
