Deputy Superintendent Pharmacist (Maternity Cover -- 12-15 months)

Pharmacy@UHB Ltd, a subsidiary of University Hospitals Birmingham (UHB), provides pharmacy services to UHB patients across Outpatient, Discharge, and Homecare Delivery Pharmacies.

We are seeking an innovative Deputy Superintendent Pharmacist for maternity cover (12-15 months) to lead our 50-strong team, primarily at QEHB and Homecare. Operating as a hybrid of community and hospital pharmacy, this role enhances patient experience at care interfaces. Working closely with multidisciplinary teams, you will ensure exceptional care for UHB patients.

Requirements:

Extensive experience as a qualified pharmacist

Significant senior-level pharmacy management experience

Proven leadership in team development and professional standards

Main duties of the job

Deputy Superintendent Pharmacist -- Key Responsibilities

This leadership role ensures the safe, effective, and compliant delivery of pharmacy services at Pharmacy@UHB Ltd.

Leadership & Management

*Lead and support a multidisciplinary team across multiple sites.

*Provide expert guidance, workforce planning, and professional development.

*Act as a key liaison with hospital teams to integrate pharmacy services.

Regulatory & Governance

*Ensure full GPhC compliance and adherence to company policies.

*Maintain and develop SOPs, oversee governance, audits, and risk management.

*Lead on regulatory inspections and ensure ongoing compliance.

Operational Excellence

*Oversee Outpatient, Discharge, and Homecare Pharmacy Services for efficiency.

*Enhance discharge processes for timely medication supply.

*Drive continuous improvement, automation, and digital integration.

Patient-Centred Care

*Ensure pharmacy services align with safe, patient-focused medication management.

*Provide expert advice to patients and healthcare professionals.

*Uphold high standards of customer service and patient support.

Strategic Development

*Support the Superintendent Pharmacist in shaping the company's vision and growth.

*Identify opportunities for service expansion and innovation.

*Collaborate with NHS and external partners to enhance services.
