University Hospitals Birmingham manages The South Birmingham Breast Screening Programme and provides Breast Symptomatic Services across Birmingham and Solihull. We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced manager to join our dynamic team as Breast Imaging Lead and Breast Screening Programme Manager. This role is critical in leading, developing and managing Breast Imaging Services to ensure the highest standards of patient care. Good knowledge and extensive experience of Breast Imaging and Breast Screening Services is essential.

Working closely with the Breast Screening Director you will be responsible for the smooth running of The South Birmingham Breast Screening Programme which is based at Birmingham Women's Hospital and serves a population of 54,000 clients. You will also be responsible for Breast Symptomatic Imaging Services at Birmingham Women's Hospital, Good Hope Hospital and Solihull Hospital providing a broad range of examinations and procedures. This is a challenging but rewarding role which has a direct impact on the health and wellbeing of women living across Birmingham.

Main duties of the job

*Responsible for the day to day running of the Breast Imaging Service covering both clinical and non-clinical aspects

*Provide operational management and professional leadership for the service and staff working within Breast Imaging ensuring that the

service provided meets high standards and delivers on quality, activity and financial targets

*Responsible for quality and safety, performance and service development

*Programme Manager duties for South Birmingham Breast Screening Programme

*Managerially responsible for all non-medical staff within Breast Imaging

Essential

  • * D.C.R. (R) / BSc Radiography or equivalent relevant discipline
  • * Achievement of Master's qualification in an Imaging discipline or equivalent level training
  • * State registration with Health Care Professions Council (HCPC).
  • * Evidence of continuing professional development and proficiency in accordance with HCPC guidelines.
  • * Evidence of formal NHS training commensurate with a senior NHS manager; for example, interviewing, discipline management, financial management

Experience

  • * Demonstrable evidence of management experience and responsibility for Breast Imaging and Breast Screening
  • * Good knowledge and understanding of Screening standards for the NHS Breast Screening Programme
  • * Significant experience writing business and strategic plans.
  • * Budget management
  • * Evidence experience of capacity & demand and workforce planning
  • * Appraisal and evaluation of equipment and materials used in imaging.
  • * Training of radiographic and support staff
  • * Managing a department or a major section of a department including HR, operational, finance, quality, decision making and critical assessment of analytical processes and trouble
  • shooting.
  • * Evidenced experience of audit and quality assurance management.
