Job summary
University Hospitals Birmingham Library and Knowledge Services (LKS) operates over four hospital sites, delivering services to over 22,000 staff and students on placement. The key aims of the LKS are to support evidence-based practice, research, patient care and clinical and managerial decision making.
Main duties of the job
This position is a Full-Time Library Trainer role based at Good Hope Hospital. As a Training Librarian, the post holder will work closely with a team of librarians and library assistants to provide information skills training to our diverse user base.
The responsibilities of the post are broad and wide ranging. These include:
Conduct regular assessments to identify the training needs of NHS library staff, considering their roles, responsibilities, and the evolving demands of the healthcare environment
Develop a training curriculum that aligns with NHS strategic objectives and best practices in library services
Deliver engaging and interactive training sessions and inductions that cater to different learning styles. This may involve facilitating classroom-based workshops, conducting online Video Training, or providing one-to-one mentoring
Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs through feedback mechanisms, surveys, and performance assessments. Use the results to continuously improve training methodologies and content
Deliver high quality evidence searches to support evidence-based healthcare and clinical decision making.
Support in developing E-learning and online video tutorials
Assist in the curation, cataloguing and maintenance of library books, journals, databases, and digital resources
