Job summary

We are seeking a clinically driven and passionate pharmacist to join the Healthcare of Older People specialty as the Specialist Clinical Pharmacist for Healthcare of Older People. This role will facilitate the delivery of care on the Good Hope Hospital site.

This post will enable the delivery of a clinically focused pharmacy service working within a strong specialist team. This post will also support the development of junior pharmacists understanding and treating complex older patients.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for enthusiastic clinical pharmacist who is capable of working in the Healthcare of Older People specialist team who is motivated with good communication skills and a desire to use their knowledge, skills and experience to improve patient care and influence healthcare professionals in the best use of medicines.

Depending on previous experience and qualifications there is an opportunity to develop in this role from a senior support pharmacist (band 7) into a Specialist Clinical Pharmacist role (band 8a) or start as a specialist pharmacist. Through a structured and supported development program a set of criteria is used to ensure you are supported and achieve key skills and knowledge.

You will have a patient facing role supporting the specialty within Healthcare of Older People understanding complex treatment pathways. You will be supported to undertake your non-medical prescribing course or if already achieved in another area develop your knowledge into this field.

There is also the opportunity to understand and deliver Cost Improvement Programs (CIP) to support the speciality and department. In addition completion of audits and Quality Improvement Project (QIP) to present to the speciality meetings will be supported.

You will join a large specialist pharmacy team covering multiple areas to support pharmacists working closely at your base site and with the team across all sites. You will be supported by a team of more experienced pharmacists to develop.
