Job summary

As a B6 Sister/ Charge Nurse you will be expected join and support the senior nursing team, to assist in providing and leading high standards of nursing practise.

Ward 1 is a 34 bedded Acute and Short Stay Ward, which provides a rewarding place to work, however challenges can arise, and the post holder will need the experience and confidence to lead the ward throughout these and have the ability to cope under pressure.

The role will include days, nights and weekend working, you will be expected to deputise for the ward manager in their absence. Working with other members of the Ward 1 Band 6 team, each band 6 is supported and encouraged to take a specialist interest into an aspect of the Ward leadership and management, such as governance, audits or RADAR investigations.

The Ward will provide the successful candidate;

*Supernumerary time to learn the role and settle into the team

*An individualised development plan supported by the Ward Manager

*Administrative time to work alongside the senior team to learn the in-depth skill of managing and running a ward

*Opportunities to implement and initiate your own new ideas to help improve the ward.

Main duties of the job

The main duty of the B6 Sister/ Charge nurse is to assist the Ward Manager in the smooth and effective coordination and management of the Ward, to act as the Ward Managers deputy in ensuring all aspects of the services delivery is effective and efficient. The role will also involve.

* Acting as a visible clinical leader, supporting junior colleagues in the delivery of high-quality care

*Be an active senior member of the ward MDT

*To take charge of shifts and use analytical skills to problem solve

*Participation in the non-clinical aspects of Ward Management -- supporting the Senior Charge Nurse with complaints, sickness management, governance, audits etc.
