Job summary
The Renal Unit is looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated Medical Secretary to join a busy office and committed Team within the Renal Department at Birmingham Heartlands Hospital.
This is a great opportunity for any person looking to become a Medical Secretary; with particular responsibility for audio typing clinic letters, general copy typing correspondence, minutes and reports learning new skills and flexibility of incorporating new practices and ways of working within the Renal Department. Overall you need to be professional, confident, punctual, self-motivated and a good communicator. There will be a requirement to work closely with Consultants and Clinical Nurse Specialists as well as other members of the Department to ensure a smooth secretarial and administrative service. Good communication and time management skills are essential to perform the range of tasks that will be required. Main duties of the job
Touch type from audio and/or copy type. Exercise initiative and judgement based on acquired knowledge and experience when dealing with enquiries; able to make decisions and take actions on routine enquiries. Have an understanding of medical terminology. Assist colleagues as directed by the Medical Secretary Supervisor/Line Manager and liaise with staff and service users
