Job summary

Are you an enthusiastic, highly motivated Cardiac Physiologist looking to expand your experience in Invasive Cardiology/Arrhythmia management? Do you want to maximise your potential and develop in a busy, tertiary centre?

We are looking for a Cardiac Physiologist to join our expanding team, based at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham. We are a tertiary, cardiology centre offering a full complement of specialised services including transplantation/VAD service, adult congenital heart disease, inherited cardiac conditions and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy to name a few.

As a service we pride ourselves in the development and quality of our staff and training. The post holder will be actively encouraged to develop themselves, undertake further qualifications such as BHRS accreditation as required, as well as maintaining continuous development through conferences, courses, research, or leadership & management training.

We currently hold UKAS/IQIPS accreditation which is testament to the high standards and quality that we strive to achieve. The department currently supports: PTP, STP, apprenticeship and HSST students. With a dedicated training and development manager, we can support you to reach your goals and aspirations.

The successful candidate will provide and support a wide variety of both invasive and non-invasive procedures, in our 4 busy, cardiac catheter labs and outpatient's department.

Main duties of the job

We are seeking someone who is enthusiastic and keen to develop in a busy, environment. The post holder will be expected to work as an independent practitioner in basic cardiac diagnostic/interventional areas. Training and support will be provided to develop in more specialised or complex procedures.

Physiologists will be actively involved in the following areas of practice:

*Simple and complex device implant, follow up and extraction including pacemakers, ICD's, CRT, S-ICD, leadless and conduction system pacing.

*Structural Intervention including TAVI, Mitraclip, Valvuloplasty, ASD/VSD/PFO closure, other percutaneous congenital interventions and left atrial appendage occlusions.

*Cardiac catheterisation & PCI

*Non-invasive cardiology including CPEX & exercise testing and ambulatory monitoring.

There will be opportunities to multi-skill through the various sub-specialties within Cardiac Physiology and therefore gain valuable experience. The successful applicant must hold a BSc in Clinical Physiology or Healthcare Science (Cardiac Physiology) or equivalent, demonstrate a commitment to training and able to participate in on-call duties once deemed competent. RCCP/ACHS/HCPC registration is desirable.
