Job summary

Applications are invited for the post of Adult Inherited Metabolic Medicine (IMD) Fellow for the duration of two years with the possibility of extension for one more years for candidate wishing to undertake PhD. This Fellowship post provides an excellent training opportunity for any senior trainee in Metabolic Medicine within the UK, EU or from overseas who wishes to develop their research/clinical skills.

Main duties of the job

The fellow will work within the inherited metabolic disorders service. The service places strong emphasis on a multidisciplinary approach and there are close links between the department and affiliated specialties within and outside the trust including Cardiology, Neurology, Liver, Pathology, Radiology, Renal and Respiratory Medicine departments. Depending on their research and specialty interest, the post-holder will be expected to participate in clinics in IMD. There are ample opportunities for the post-holder to gain skills that will support training in the IMD sub-specialty areas. These include lysosomal storage disorders, Alstrom syndrome, rare lipid, and bone disorders.
