Would you like the opportunity to develop in a specialist clinical role? We are seeking talented and motivated pharmacist to join the Heartlands site within our Renal pharmacy team.

You will provide a clinically focused and innovative pharmacy service to the Renal patients on the Heartlands hospital site. Part of your role will be undertaking renal outpatient clinics supporting patients with their complex medicine needs. In addition, you will be involved in reviewing and writing guidelines, risk management and education and training.

Main duties of the job

To provide highly specialist clinical pharmacist input to the Renal specialty.

To proactively deliver, develop and evaluate specialist clinical pharmacy services to Renal patients at Heartlands. You will work clinically on our inpatient wards and outpatient clinics, providing excellent pharmaceutical care and advice.

To support the introduction of new therapies and technologies for the treatment of a variety of renal diseases.

To work as an independent prescriber, initiating and optimising treatment. You will be supported to undertake your NMP or if already achieved, develop your knowledge in this field.

To deliver audits, Quality Improvement Projects, and Cost Improvement Programs to support the speciality and department.

To deliver education and training on medication in renal disease to different healthcare professionals, including junior doctors, nurses and other members of the pharmacy team.

You will join a large specialist pharmacy team covering multiple specialties. You will be supported by a team of experienced pharmacists to develop, and transition to providing leadership, management and operational support.

Depending on experience and qualifications, there is an opportunity to develop from a senior support pharmacist (band 7) into a Specialist Clinical Pharmacist (band 8a) or start at this level. Through a structured development program, set criteria is used to ensure you are supported and achieve key skills and knowledge before moving into the specialist role.

  • *Vocational Masters degree in pharmacy (or equivalent)
  • *Membership of the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
  • *Has completed a postgraduate clinical pharmacy qualification or equivalent advanced practice.
  • *To be willing to work towards a non-medical prescribing qualification

Desirable
