The Liver unit at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital & Birmingham Childrens Hospital is one of the world's biggest and leading liver units. Are you an experienced nurse with transferable skills? Do you have an interest in liver disease and transplantation? We have an exciting opportunity to recruit a Liver Recipient Transplant Co-ordinator to join our team initially in a Band 6 training role once competencies are completed you will be up banded to a band 7.
We are looking for someone who works well in a team and as an individual, has excellent communication and problem solving skill, and is resourceful, can share ideas and be able to prioritise your workload. You will be responsible for the co-ordination of patient care throughout their transplant journey, providing patient support and education through expert knowledge, working closely with the transplant team and wider MDT. You will be the patient's advocate working closely with inpatient and outpatient services and community team .
On completion of the competencies you will work as a proactive, autonomous practitioner working 24hr on-calls receiving organ offers, setting up transplants, liaising with MDT, working across site at Birmingham Children's Hospital and being the contact for our transplant patients

Main duties of the job
You will be meeting patients to discuss the transplant pathway, identifying patients psychosocial needs and referring to relelvent agencies. You will be coordinating the process for the MDT to assess the patient and presenting them at the Transplant MDT. You will be registering patients onto the national waiting list at NHSBT and supporting their management whilst waiting. You will be trained to take all organ offers and set up transplants for both adults and paediatric patient. Post transplant you will be supporting the patient so they can enjoy their improved health through education on topics on a healthy lifestyle and medication adherence.

- *Registered Nurse on the NMC Register.
- *Professional knowledge acquired at Masters level supplemented by specialist training , experience and short courses to degree / Masters Level , FHEQ Level 6/ 7 equivalent
- *Post registration qualification / experience in solid organ transplantation
- *Recognised mentorship course
- *Willingness to undertake Non-Medical Prescribing Course
Desirable
- *To have or working towards Masters qualification
- *Post registration qualification in hepatology

- *Evidence and ability to revalidate as required by the NMC
- *Significant experience as a at B6 or above in defined or associated speciality
- *Extensive experience of working autonomously at a specialist level
