Job summary
We are looking for a Registered Dental Nurse to join our Oral Surgery and Orthodontic team at Solihull Hospital. The successful candidate must have a recognised Dental Nurse qualification and be GDC registered.
This is an exciting opportunity for a Registered Dental Nurse to enhance their skills and gain experience within a hospital setting. You must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You will need to be approachable, act as a role model and work effectively within a team.

The position will be based at the Solihull Hospital, but you may also be required to work in our other departments at the Queen Elizabeth and Good Hope Hospital.
Main duties of the job
*Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of a range of dental, orthodontic and maxillofacial procedures appropriate to the area of work.
*Ensure the appropriate preparation of surgeries, ensuring the correct instruments, equipment and medicaments are available prior to the commencement of clinic.
*Carry out infection prevention and control procedures to prevent physical, chemical and microbiological contamination in the surgery.
*Prepare equipment, materials and patients for dental radiography.
*Ensure the correct patient records, x-rays & models are available prior to treatment and updated.
*Monitor, support and reassure patients, giving appropriate patient advice.
*Assisting in the provision of oral care encouraging and supporting patients through their dental experience.
*Communicate effectively to patients, parents & carers who may be nervous, have communication difficulties or complex medical needs. Providing pre and post-operative advice and instruction for routine & specialist dental procedures
*Be responsible for the safe disposal & tracking of instruments or equipment requiring decontamination following procedures.
*To assist the Senior Dental Nurse's in the smooth running of clinics.
*Prioritise using initiative to deal with matters independently.
*Work closely with all members of the Dental team to provide a supportive environment for each patient.
