Job summary
The department of infection is seeking to appoint an infectious diseases specialist nurse to join the Complex Outpatient Antimicrobial Therapy (COpAT) team. You will have the opportunity to manage a wide variety of infections across all specialities. You would be joining a thriving team of medics, community practitioners, pharmacists and nurses. The department is rapidly developing and expanding offering the opportunity to be involved with quality improvements projects, innovations and research.
Grade appointed is dependant on experience and it will take 6-12 months training to complete the competency programme.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be expected to work as part of the UHB COpAT team to co-ordinate and seek referrals to the service within UHB and ensure robust clinical management of these patients throughout their treatment in conjunction with the relevant community team.
The successful candidate will be expected to review suitability of referrals, monitor patients throughout their treatment, manage a caseload of patients and at all times work closely with the infectious diseases multi-disciplinary team.
The ideal candidate must be highly motivated, have the ability to work within secondary and primary care, be confident and willing to undertake self-directed and supervised learning.
You will be expected to work across all trust hospital sites and undertake some community visits as necessary
This post is advertised as Band 6/7 dependant on experience. If appointed at band 6 you will undertake a period of 6-12 months training and successfully complete a competency programme to ensure autonomous practice is achieved.
