Job summary

Applications are invited for an enthusiastic, dedicated colleague to join the existing 30 consultant gastroenterologists at UHB. As UHB is the largest teaching hospital trust in the UK, all aspects of specialist working in gastroenterology/hepatology are catered for. This is post is to provide fixed sessions at Good Hope Hospital site, as part of a planned work expansion. A variety of subspeciality interests are welcome. Clinical responsibility includes outpatient and endoscopy lists as well as supporting inpatient care which is shared on a 7-day consultant of the week model, and also participate in the weekday cross-site GI bleed rota. Successful candidates will be encouraged and supported to further develop their own skills and will also be expected to be involved in Undergraduate and Postgraduate education and research.

Main duties of the job

University Hospitals Birmingham leads the way in the delivery of Gastroenterology across the Midlands.

Across the Heartlands, Solihull and Good Hope sites we have over 20 likeminded professionals who dedicate themselves in a variety of subspeciality interests to include inflammatory bowel disease, nutrition, hepatology and advanced endoscopy.

As a JAG accredited centre and one of the largest trusts in the country we offer a broad range of diagnostic and therapeutic services for all gastroenterological conditions.

With waiting lists at the forefront-- we need to ensure our patients can rely on and access our service in a timely and efficient manner, and we are committed to delivering first class care to all.

Success in this role will see you taking part in a 7-day rota where you will utilise your broad experience of Gastroenterology, and be clinically responsible for outpatient and endoscopy lists, inpatient care and GI bleeding. A subspeciality interest will be encouraged and supported.
