Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Physiotherapist (Team Lead) to join the Acute General Medicine Physiotherapy team at QEHB working alongside other Team Leaders & Clinical Specialist Physiotherapists.

The clinical areas covered include Respiratory wards, which have dedicated respiratory support units, acute medical wards & renal medicine. This post will be predominately based on the acute renal medicine & acute medical wards , with the opportunity to gain experience in other areas covered by the team.

These inpatient beds are managed by a strong multidisciplinary team of Consultants, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Dieticians & Speech & Language Therapists & Clinical Nurse Specialists.

In this role you will be supported to undertake significant professional development, through attendance at internal/external courses, opportunity for post graduate study, excellent peer support from senior physiotherapy & AHP colleagues, & wider mentoring opportunities.

Opportunities include : good MDT working relationships in all clinical areas; participation MDT training: business case development & participation in both national & local audit projects, Research & attendance at specialty conferences.

The post is full time (37.5 hours) permanent post, with applications welcomed for part time/job share opportunities or internal secondment.

Therapy Services at UHB works closely with local Universities to develop student education & placement capacity.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will lead a team of Physiotherapists & Therapy Assistant staff alongside other Team Lead Physiotherapists. Working closely with therapy colleagues and alongside the Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist you will work to deliver service improvement projects in several clinical areas. You will manage a team in a fast-paced environment, including management of sickness absence, annual leave, robust supervision and appraisal of staff. Keen interest in evidence-based practice, clinical education & leadership is essential to the role.

The successful individual will take a lead role in the advanced assessment and treatment of complex patients and be proactive in developing clinical practice within this specialty area. Significant post registration experience within this clinical area including acute respiratory skills, and specialist knowledge/skills in the assessment and treatment of a wide range of pathologies associated with Acute medicine, Respiratory and Renal conditions are essential.

Key skills for this post include confidence in communication, strong leadership, collaborative working, and a personal desire to develop. You must be able to demonstrate excellent time management skills, as a well as proactive team management such as appraisals, rotation planning and new staff induction.
