Are you a Registered Nurse with Gynaecology or Risk Governance experience? UHB has an exciting opportunity for a full time post in Gynaecology Governance.
The role will be to enhance the quality of patient care & achieving consistency in practice with a strong focus on patient safety
The post holder will be responsible for promoting and facilitating effective governance risk & assurance within the gynaecology speciality, they will ensure that recommendations to changes in practice are implemented and embedded in practice.
The postholder will be responsible for co-ordinating clinical risk reviews, managing the Datix reporting system, act as a central point of receipt of all incidents reported, leading on investigations, organising MDTs & round tables reviews.
The post holder will be an active particpant in Senior management meetings for governance
the post holder will require the ability to communicate complex, sensitive & sometimes contentious information to woman and their families.
Main duties of the job

Communicate effectively to an appropriate person and significant issues highlighted through the clinical risk review process
Remain objective in achieving desired outcomes
Publising a Gynae risk management newsletter, risk boards & staff updates
Reports to the Clinical Matron
Demonstrates the ability to objectively & critically review & analyse adverse clinical risk incidents & health care near misses
Ensures daily review & robust management of all new incidents, escalating to Matron & CSL
Identify serious clinical incidents & cases that may lead to litigation
Produce timely comprehensive case reports to the corporate governance team
Train & inform staff of clinical risk management
co-ordinate all divisional and local RCAs ensuring appropriate allocation
disseminate the action plans arising from reports, ensuring lessons learned are shared
ensure compliance with duty of candour when required and support staff in their responsibilites to complete
disseminate learning from incidents by means of focus boards, safety briefs, forums, risk meetings etc
Able to identify own strength & weaknesses, recognise the need to be stategic, adaptable & flexible. Deals sensitively with staff members at difficult times
