Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Dermatology department at UHB, specifically at the Solihull Hospital site. Due to ongoing service demands and a vision to expand and develop our services, we are seeking to appoint an outstanding nurse consultant to join our Dermatology team.
The post holder will be responsible for leading, coordinating and developing a high quality service in their service and across the organisation. They will work in partnership with the multidisciplinary team to promote excellence in clinical practice.
The post holder will use their expert knowledge in providing health care to patients referred to the service for specialist advice and management. The post holder will see direct referrals relating to their area of expertise, assess, triage and treat maintaining expert practice in all aspects of that specialty management. They will practice at an advanced level of professional autonomy and accountability in the provision of such care. Develop and maintain links between secondary & primary care providers to ensure models of care that facilitate patient and family well-being. In collaboration with the lead clinicians develop, lead and manage specific service development relating to DOH, NICE, NHS England, Specialist commissioning groups, regional and Trust objectives or guidance.
The post holder will deliver a 50% direct clinical care component to their role and 50% related to clinical innovation, service development, CPD, education, audit & research.
Main duties of the job
1.Work autonomously as an advanced practitioner to provide effective care to individuals and groups, managing a caseload of patients delivering individualised direct patient care
2.Demonstrate a critical understanding of their broadened level of responsibility and autonomy and limits of own competence and professional scope of practice.
3.Use clinical expertise and decision making skills to undertake advanced health assessment and clinical examinations, request relevant diagnostic investigations and make diagnoses and referrals for other specialist treatment
4.Undertake advanced clinical skills to provide treatment/advice as per speciality and scope of practice using agreed protocols of clinical practice and professional guidelines. This service may be provided within an acute secondary healthcare facility or in primary, community or home care setting.
5.Take responsibility for autonomous clinical decision making for admission and discharge of patients for specific speciality as appropriate for the service
6.Undertake a variety of advanced clinical procedures (invasive & non-invasive) following appropriate underpinning training and assessment that are required for the patient group as agreed by Clinical Service Lead
7.Undertake Non-Medical Prescribing role and provide advice on medicine management issues associated with the patient specialty group. Work within Trust policy for Medicines Management
