In Spring 2024, Solihull Hospital opens six new theatres -- these fantastic facilities will be used to shape the future of surgery for the residents of Birmingham and Solihull- it will reduce patient waiting times, provide vital care pathways to those needing surgery and to support our communities with continued excellent patient care.
We are excited to open applications for a Consultant Anaesthetists to join us at Solihull Hospital.
As one of the largest acute Trusts within the NHS- we can offer a number of subspecialties to you- including, Critical care, Vascular, Thoracic, Bariatrics, Colorectal, E.N.T, Urology, Gynaecology, Paediatric day surgery, General surgery, Obstetric, T&O and pain medicine. The On calls will be based on either Heartlands or Good Hope Hospital depending on your Field of interest.
As one of seventy consultants across the wider Heartlands, Good Hope and Solihull hospital Group within the UHB trust, you will participate in the Divisional and Departmental quality improvement projects as well as undergraduate and postgraduate teaching to ensure we develop our next generation and continue to provide the very best to our patients.

Main Duties & Tasks
The core component of this post is to provide anaesthetic cover for a variety of surgical services, if a consultant has a special interest is in pain medicine or Critical Care then the Job plan will be equally split with the specialities.
The post holder must understand the significant ongoing changes in the Trust's services and be prepared to take an active part in the change program.
A standard full time job plan will contain 10 programmed activities which could be filled by a variety of options from currently uncovered lists and flexible cover for consultant leave.
A programmed activity will normally have a timetable value of 4 hours and a full-time consultant will normally devote 8 programmed activities to direct clinical care.The remaining programmed activities will be devoted to supporting professional activities.
