Job summary
Never has there been such an exciting time to lead on education and development within the pharmacy profession. This new role, supported by a specialist pharmacist and two specialist pharmacy technicians, will provide a strategic lead on pre and post registration pharmacy education and development.
We are seeking a pharmacist experienced in the education and development of pharmacy professionals who wishes to expand their role. The Pharmacy Department at UHB is very progressive with a strong focus on supporting the development of our team members. This includes the provision of undergraduate education both in the clinical and university setting and the expansion of our cross-sector trainee pharmacist and pre-registration pharmacy technician training programmes. Our early career pharmacists are supported to undertake the clinical diploma or the RPS foundation pharmacist curriculum and independent prescribing. Team members are encouraged to undertake additional development and we have people undertaking research internships, leadership programmes and other courses aligned to their role. Preparing our people for career progression is a high priority and we are continuing to create several progressional career pathways.

Main duties of the job
This role is the lead for the professional development, education and training of all pharmacy team members across University Hospitals Birmingham (UHB) with the opportunity to maintain clinical practice.
The role will suit an individual with a proven track record of delivering and evaluating education and training within pharmacy in the healthcare setting. Someone who is a good collaborator, negotiator, keen to adopt novel approaches and be recognised nationally through input beyond the organisation.
The Advanced Clinical Pharmacist -Professional Development, Education and Training will have overall responsibility for pre-registration and post-registration training (including early career and advanced practice). This includes:
*Undergraduate education delivery and placements (liaison with teacher-practitioner pharmacists, on-site teaching, clinical placements, elective placements, and research projects involving UHB).
*Trainee pharmacist Educational Programme Director.
*A programme of peer support through clinical supervision.
*Early career, mid-career/advanced/consultant practice support.
*Talent management
*Leading, with two Specialist Pharmacy Technicians, the development of the pharmacy technician team from apprenticeship through to higher level practice.
*Leading the provision of education and training to other professional groups within UHB.
*Coordinating and leading research around education and development within pharmacy.
