Band 6 Sister/Charge Nurse Full Time Post for Cardiology Ward and CCU on Heartlands Site

University Hospitals Birmingham comprises of four sites, Queen Elizabeth, Heartlands, Solihull and Good Hope. The Cardiology Directorate currently has Band 6 position available on the Heartlands Site Ward 9

The Ward/Directorate comprises of the following:

Ward 9 BH site, is a 34 bedded cardiology ward which cares for patients with a varied range of cardiology conditions, and six direct access trollies for assessment of cardiology patients from the front door services.

There are also two cath labs and two day case units on site and this allows us to provide Primary PCI 24/7 and the NSTEMI service.

As a Band 6 you will be an integral part of the team. You will coordinate and ensure a high standard of patient care is delivered in an effective and efficient manner, reflecting the overall philosophy of the service on a regular basis. The role will also include assessing, implementing, delivering and evaluating care in line with local and national guidelines.

Main duties of the job

Bring your enthusiasm, passion, experience and nursing care knowledge for both, Level 1& 2 cardiology patients, to our directorate and we will offer you opportunity to build your expertise and skills in this specialty.

Applicants should have:

*A proven track record of clinical and professional experience.

*Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills

*Willingness to develop your leadership skills and have a teaching and assessing qualification

*Ability to demonstrate, at interview, cardiology knowledge and skills to be able to care for Level 2 patients in CCU, Primary STEMIs in the cath lab and on CCU and cardiology ward patients.

*Ideally you will have postgraduate Cardiac Care qualification or equivalent and either current ALS provider certificate or with the ability to complete within 6 months of commencing post.

*You must also be able to demonstrate clinical assessment and ECG interpretation skills and clinical knowledge to safely care for patients who require additional Level 2 clinical support such as CPAP/IABP/Temporary pacing etc, at interview.
