Job summary

The repair and servicing of medical devices used throughout the UHB NHS Foundation Trust. This work requires specialist knowledge of any of the following Analogue, Digital Electronics, Microprocessor, pneumatics and mechanical techniques. It involves fault finding, diagnosing and repairs of complex and delicate medical equipment to component level.

Main duties of the job

The unsupervised repair and maintenance of medical equipment.

Assisting clinical and nursing staff in proper configuration and use of medical equipment.

Support the use and implementation of the Departmental Equipment Management System.

Have the knowledge of and support the use of the Department's Quality Management System.

The post holder will have knowledge of all Departmental procedures, health and safety regulations and any legislation that is relevant to the job.

The post holder will conduct planned preventive work on a range of medical devices.

Qualifications

Essential

  • *Professional electronics knowledge through BEng in electronics or equivalent.
  • *Manufacturer approved technical training on a wide range of complex medical equipment.
  • *Evidence of attendance of short courses and regular updating of training required

Desirable

  • *Continual Professional Development to obtain registration requirements with the Institute of Physics and Engineering in Medicine (IPEM).

Experience

Essential

  • *Substantial experience in the repair and maintenance of medical equipment.
  • *A comprehensive understanding and competence in the repair and maintenance of medical equipment specific to the section.
  • *Ability to record and analyse work data.
  • *Relevant knowledge and competence in
  • electronics, mechanics, pneumatics,
  • anaesthetics, gas, infusion therapies computing and physiological
  • measurement, as appropriate to the
  • section

Additional Criteria

  • *Hold UK Driving Licence
  • *Must regularly participate in the departments "on call" service as required.
  • *Ability to work and communicate with Clinical and Nursing staff.
  • *Ability to work under pressure on occasions.
  • *Able to communicate effectively.

  • *Commitment to health and safety
  • *Capable of producing high standards of work.
  • *Self-motivated with the ability to work as part of a team.
  • *Ability to travel to multiple sites.
