Are you a healthcare assistant looking for a new challenge? Would you like to join our dynamic team at the Centre for Clinical Haematology?
We are looking for an experienced healthcare assistant to join our team as a Line technician.
We deliver outpatient Systemic Anti-Cancer Treatment (SACT), supportive therapy, and Autologous Stem Cell transplants to patients from all over the Midlands. We offer treatment and support to teenagers and adults with a wide range of haematology disorders.
You will be involved in our phlebotomy service and day unit service taking peripheral bloods and from central venous access devices (CVAD).
The successful candidate should be willing to learn new skills, be hardworking, motivated and enthusiastic.
Main duties of the job
Working in the phlebotomy service and day unit:
- Peripheral bloods
- Bloods from central line
- Dressing change of central line.
- Patient observations
- Taking height and weight of patients
- performing blood glucose monitoring and ECGs.
- Assisting in day unit when required
- Performing venesections when competent
- Cannulation training
- Communicating with all members of the team, nurses, doctors, CNS and research teams.
