Job summary
Applications are invited for the post of Speciality Dentist in Orthodontics, based at Good Hope Hospital with clinical services being provided within the hospital and possibly at a sister unit at Solihull Hospital dependent on service demand.
The post is part-time working 7 PAs per week, which consists of 6 sessions for personal treatment sessions and 1 session for administration/training/audit.
The main purpose of the post is to undertake the treatment of cases deemed suitable for treatment within the Orthodontic Department in order to help achieve the Government's targets for patient treatment waiting times.

Main duties of the job
*The post holder will be expected to develop a close working relationship with colleagues in Orthodontics and the other dental and medical specialities. The appointee will be expected to liaise with these colleagues as well as other specialties at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust, Birmingham Dental Hospital and other Trusts.
*Support services are provided including Orthodontic Therapist, dental nurses, orthodontic technicians and student dental hygienists/therapist. Secretarial support is provided. Radiographic, computer and laboratory services are all present on site.
*The Orthodontic Department has a strong commitment to the interdisciplinary management of complex cases, working closely with other specialities within and outside the hospital. The post holder will need to work closely with the orthodontic consultant and consultants in other specialities in the management of these cases.
*The appointee will be expected to work in collaboration with the Consultant Orthodontist on all departmental matters.
*To participate in departmental and regional audit. The appointee may be involved in audit projects in conjunction with consultants, Orthodontic Therapist and/or junior hospital dentists.
