Job summary
We are looking for a highly motivated, dynamic individual to join our cardiology team at Heartlands hospital. If you have a passion for cardiology and a registered band 5 then we would warmly welcome your application. The Cardiology In-patient service at Heartlands is made up of two cardiology wards, Cardiac Cath labs, Coronary care unit (CCU), Direct access beds (DAB) and day case recovery areas.
Ward 6 and 9 include 48 cardiology beds where patients receive care for a range of acute and long term cardiac conditions. An 8 bedded Coronary care unit which beats at the centre of our 24 hour PCI centre. A 6 bedded direct access area to streamline cardiology patients into the department where they will be assessed and treated swiftly. We also have opportunities to join the cardiac cath lab core team working to support the wide range of cardiology interventional and diagnostic treatments. Main duties of the job
As a band 5 nurse you will be directly caring and responsible for a patient case load for that day.
You will receive new direct admissions from a variety of sources and assess the patient fully using our admission assessments and risk assessments set by the trust.
On a day to day basis you may care for patients in a ward setting or level 2 Cardiology patients, these will vary and may have IABP, TPW, PPCI, Inotropes, post cardiac arrest patients and ITU stepdown.....and more.
You will be supported by a band 6 on each shift and will be encouraged to complete the packages specified and any competencies required.
Providing high quality compassionate care to all patients.
Being professionally accountable for own actions and to work within the guidelines, policies and procedures of UHB NHS Trust.
Provide support and, individualised care to patients, relatives/carers in collaboration with the multi professional team, in line with local and national targets.
At all times ensure that the needs of the patient are placed at the centre of care delivery.
To be flexible in the approach to the clinical area and provide cover for any area specified.
