We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 5 nurse to join the friendly and welcoming Renal Anaemia team for 12 months Maternity cover at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, University Hospitals Birmingham NHS.

This is an ideal opportunity for an enthusiastic registered nurse to develop new knowledge and skills whilst being supported by the Anaemia Lead Nurse, a team of specialist nurse practitioners, and the nephrology doctors.

The renal anaemia department provides treatment to more than 500 patients including Pre-dialysis, Peritoneal dialysis, Transplant, Conservative management and Home haemodialysis patients

The successful applicant will be responsible in delivering educational support to renal patients with anaemia, providing treatment with erythropoietin-stimulating agents, intravenous iron, oral iron tablets and referring patients for blood transfusion.

The post holder will be responsible for running an intravenous iron clinic locally and offsite, and ideally should be competent in phlebotomy and cannulation (or willingness to learn).
