Job summary

Full time Locum Consultant Breast Radiologist to contribute to Breast screening and participate in symptomatic breast radiology on any Hospital sites within UHB. The base site will be at the Birmingham women's hospital.

The successful applicant are expected to join a team of enthusiastic Consultant Radiologists to contribute to the increasing workload of the department which has been driven upwards by a combination of service expansion, cancer pathway driven targets and multidisciplinary meeting attendance.

The successful applicant are expected to have completed specialist training in Clinical Radiology by the time of taking up the post.

The successful applicant should have breast screening accreditation and training from any of the national breast screening training centres is desirable.

The Imaging Department is part of CDG11 within the Trust management structure incorporating Radiology, Medical Physics, Laboratory Medicine & Pharmacy. The Imaging Department covers all of imaging including Nuclear Medicine, Radiation Protection and Radiotherapy Physics. The Medical Director is Dr Madava Djearaman and Manging Director is Ms Yma Choudhury.

Dr Fady Khattar is Clinical Service Lead, and individual Consultants also provide a sub speciality lead role in areas of sub specialist interest where they coordinate service delivery and modernisation initiatives as well as ensuring service developments are introduced effectively within their areas. The lead Radiologist for breast is Dr Colin Walker.

Main duties of the job

There are 86 Consultant Radiologists in post across UHB and the Trust has a Carestream PACS with Voice Recognition capability.

All aspects of Breast Imaging are undertaken by Breast Radiologists and Consultant Radiographers including:

*Breast Screening Film Reading

*Breast Screening Assessment Clinics

*Mammography including Tomosynthesis Reporting

*Ultrasound

*Image-guided biopsies

*MRI reporting

*Staging CT scans reporting

*Vacuum Assisted Biopsies

*2nd line Vacuum Assisted Excisions

*Stereotactic and US guided wire localisations

*Breast MDM presentations
