Job summary
-To provide therapeutic assessment, management and treatment of patients undergoing surgery on Wards 4 and 7 including the Birmingham Vascular Centre, lower limb amputation cohort and other surgeries - Gastro, UGI, ENT.
This includes pre-operative and post-operative assessment and intervention.
There will be a strong focus on rehabilitating patients and early discharge planning.
This could be provided in outpatient clinic, rehabilitation spaces, on inpatient wards and by the completion of domiciliary visits and our Brand New Vascular therapy gym.
-To contribute to seven day working programmes across the organisation
-You will be working in a friendly team of 15 -including Occupational therapists, Physiotherapists and Therapy support workers.
-The Team is highly supportive with personal professional development and offers regular in-service and additional training opportunities.
-Band 5 post holders are encouraged to apply as a BAND 5- 6 Progression post can be offered through completion of competencies specific to this post
Main duties of the job
To perform specialist assessment of patients with diverse presentations and complex physical and psychological conditions. To hold responsibility for assessing patients quickly when referred, working without direct supervision. Access to advice and support from senior therapy staff is available if required, clinical work is not routinely evaluated.
To undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner and maintain associated records.
To participate in the site on call physiotherapy service once training has been provided and deemed competent (physiotherapy only).
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
Clinical
1.To be professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of own work, including the management of patients in your care. Organising and planning own caseload to meet service and patient priorities. Readjusting plans as situations change/arise.
2.To undertake a comprehensive assessment of patients including those with diverse or complex presentations/multi pathologies; use advanced clinical reasoning skills and manual assessment techniques to provide an accurate diagnosis of their condition and / or problems.
3.Formulate and deliver an individual therapy treatment programme based on a sound knowledge of evidence based practice and treatment options using clinical assessment, reasoning skills and knowledge of treatment skills e.g. manual therapy techniques, patient education, exercise classes and alternative options.

- *Diploma / degree in physiotherapy/occupational therapy.
- *Current registration with Health Professions Council.
- *A levels or equivalent qualification
- *Good standard of general education including GCSE maths and english grade C and above.
