Job summary
Applications are invited for a Clinical Fellowship in Sarcoma surgery to commence in August 2024 for a 6-12 month period. Previous experience of sarcoma surgery is not essential. The post offers excellent general surgical experience to those wishing to broaden their exposure to visceral mobilisation, dissection of the retroperitoneal structures and multi-visceral resection.
Main duties of the job
The Fellowship is approved by the Royal College of Surgeons, the Association of Coloproctology and the Association of Upper GI Surgeons for training.
This Fellowship offers unique exposure to complex retroperitoneal, pelvic and abdominal soft tissue sarcoma surgery. The Unit works in concert with the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital taking complex cases that require combined expertise including sacrectomy and hemipelvectomy. The sarcoma service also offers surgical support to the regional NET and Adrenal Units and there is a growing RPLND program for non-seminomatous testicular cancer. In addition the Fellow will have the opportunity to learn upper and lower endoscopy and gain further experience in general and emergency surgery. The complex nature of sarcoma surgery will ensure exposure to all branches of surgery including advanced plastic reconstruction.
