Job summary

The BSOL Procurement Collaborative (BSOL PC), hosted by University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust (UHB) provides procurement and supply chain services to UHB, Birmingham Women's and Children's NHS Foundation Trust, the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, Birmingham Community Healthcare Foundation Trust, and Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health Foundation Trust.The procurement team plays a key role in supporting the delivery of high-quality patient care whilst ensuring value for money is achieved and we are looking to recruit a pro-active, self-motivated and ambitious Assistant Category Manager to join our Corporate Procurement team, covering Information Technology related procurements.This role will be based at the BSOL PC offices, Regent Court Birmingham, but could also involve visiting / working at any of the BSOL PC sites as required.The Assistant Category Manager post is a key role. You will interface with various stakeholders at all BSOL PC Trusts. You will be responsible for supporting the procurement and management of corporate contracts. You will effectively provide support to the IT Category Managers to enable the delivery of saving targets and work-plans. You will be expected to build and maintain professional relationships, implement change and enable the Department to continuously improve the service delivered to stakeholders.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work as part of a dynamic procurement team in delivering an efficient and effective procurement service including the delivery of procurement work-plans and savings initiatives: Supporting the wider Procurement management team, Finance colleagues and other stakeholders.As part of the Corporate Procurement team you will assist the IT Category Managers in undertaking procurement activity in the form of tendering and the development and ongoing management of a portfolio of various contracts in compliance with Trust SFIs and Public Procurement Legislation. The post holder will support procurement colleagues on tenders, contract negotiations and other projects with accurate, consistent and meaningful in-depth research and data analytics, ensuring that agreements reached with suppliers are supported with transparent appraisals of current supplier performance and that the new supplier selection process is robust and delivers savings and efficiencies for the business. The post requires a professional, motivated and enthusiastic approach, excellent organisational skills, the ability to communicate at all levels, attention to detail and to have a flexible approach to work.
