Job summary

The Locum Upper Limb Consultant will play a pivotal role at the University Hospital Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust, primarily focussing on trauma surgery with a special interest in upper limb procedures. The post is for a period of 12 months and is vital in aiding the department to cater to the substantial demands of one of the most active trauma centres in England.

Main duties of the job

*Proficient in orthopaedic trauma surgery with a particular emphasis on upper limb procedures.*Effective cross-functional team collaboration.*Capable of multi-site operations and flexibility.*Sound decision-making under high-pressure situations.*Comprehensive understanding of hospital technologies, including MRI scanning units and electronic patient records.

*Performing trauma surgeries, focusing on upper limb procedures.*Engaging in general Trauma & Orthopaedic on-call work.*Handling outside referrals and in-house emergencies.*Working across multiple hospital sites as required.*Collaborating with the extensive medical team including MSK Radiologists, Anaesthetists, and Trauma Nurse Practitioners.

*Efficiently using available resources and facilities within the department.*Making informed decisions related to patient care, considering the financial implications.*Ensuring the highest standards of care without unnecessary expenditure.
