Job summary

University Hospitals Birmingham Foundation Trust is recruiting a Specialty Doctor in Palliative Medicine.

You will join an innovative and supportive team all with a shared vision of providing outstanding care for palliative care across University Hospitals Birmingham.

We are seeking an enthusiastic specialty doctor to support the Trust and hospice in improving how it cares for patients requiring supportive or palliative care.

Main duties of the job

*Deliver high-quality palliative care to patients in inpatient settings.

*Supporting the triage of patients referred to the Supportive and Palliative Care team at QEHB and providing medical review and liaison with ward-based teams.

*Attending and contributing to the Supportive and Palliative care MDT.

*Involvement in the learning and development for other team members, taking part in internal and external education offered by the hospice and hospital

*Act in line with the NHS constitution and UHB values.

*Observe policies and procedures written by the trust.

Qualifications

Essential

  • *MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
  • *Full GMC registration
  • *Evidence of achievement of Foundation competencies in line with GMC standards/Good Medical Practice
  • *Eligibility to live and work in the UK
  • *4-5 years clinical experience at least 2 of which must be in the relevant specialty

Experience

Essential

  • *Minimum of 4 years post full registration clinical experience with at least 24 months within Oncology
  • *Completion of ST1/CT1 and ST2/CT2 or equivalent experience
  • *Ability to verify complete details of employment history
  • *JSD -- Foundation training completed and appropriate experience
  • *Evidence of commitment to Supportive and Palliative Care speciality
