Job summary

We are seeking enthusiastic, motivated and experienced Radiographers to support the delivery of our service. We are committed to investing in staff development and health and wellbeing. The Imaging Directorate provides 24/7 service delivery and we invest in the upgrade and modernisation of equipment and facilities including the new Heartlands Treatment Centre.

Successful candidates will provide a high quality service to adults, children and young people using best practice at all times promoting a positive patient experience. They will experience a broad spectrum of imaging techniques. Applicants will be able to demonstrate strong interpersonal, leadership and organisational skills with an ability to work effectively within the multi-disciplinary team. You will be expected to participate in the 7-day shift system covering out-of-hours service including nights, weekends and bank holidays.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible and accountable for imaging patients in acute, outpatient and inpatient areas, employing a high level of skill and experience within Imaging and working as part of a team providing a caring and effective service.

They will organise and prioritise workload as required. They will be responsible for coordinating with other areas of the department. They will communicate effectively with colleagues and patients and have a patient centred approach.

They will take responsibility for their own practice, in correlation with protocols and maintain accurate records, ensuring they work in line with IRR2017 and IRMER2017.

They will act in accordance with the Radiographers' professional code of conduct and maintain their professional knowledge through CPD, striving to improve standards of service and quality of work.

They will participate in the training and supervision of radiographers, student radiographers and Assistant Practitioners and demonstrate leadership qualities.

They will use equipment safely and competently, ensuring that faults are reported in a timely manner.

They will have high standards of cleanliness in the clinical environment and work in accordance with Trust infection control policies.

They will be aware of and comply with relevant Trust policies and regularly participate in mandatory training to update their knowledge.

The role is physically demanding and they may be exposed to body fluids, severely traumatised patients and verbal abuse.
