An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and highly motivated exercise physiologist/instructor to join our Cardiac Rehabilitation Service at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham. This will be an excellent opportunity for you to enhance your skills in caring for cardiac patients. Additional training is offered to meet the service requirements and ensure you are fully supported in your career development. The post requires you to work in a hospital and community setting providing cardiac rehabilitation covering Phase 1 to Phase 3 of the patient pathway.
We are part of an innovative way of working and currently work collaboratively with Birmingham Community Health Care NHS Trust Cardiac Rehabilitation Team to provide a service closer to the patient's home. This initiative is in partnership with a local leisure centre.
The successful candidate will work closely with the senior Physiotherapist and Cardiac Rehabilitation Specialist Nurses to provide, plan and design a comprehensive Cardiac Rehabilitation Programme. This programme is tailored to meet the individual needs of each patient which can include; gym based exercise, Tai Chi, movement to music or a home programme. During each programme, you will monitor, evaluate and record patient outcomes, offering advice and support.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate should have experience in:
*The assessment and management of exercise prescription in relation to cardiac patients or patients with long term conditions.
*Planning holistic programmes of rehabilitation to meet the individual needs of the patients.
*Delivering exercise to complex patient groups with multiple co-morbidities.
*Providing health promotion and education through face to face consultation and group sessions.
The successful candidate must possess a good understanding of cardiovascular disease, as well as knowledge and abilities in exercise assessment and prescription, exercise physiology, behaviour change, cardiovascular emergency procedures, risk factor assessment and management.
