Job summary

There is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Haematology nurse to join our team at the Centre for Clinical Haematology (CCH) as a Sister/Charge Nurse. The unit is located at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham.

CCH is a day-case unit which cares for patients with a wide range of haematology disorders. We administer Systemic Anti-Cancer Treatment (SACT) and supporting therapies. We also oversee an ambulatory Stem Cell Transplantation and chemotherapy programme. As well as this, we also manage a busy outpatient clinic and phlebotomy service. The service currently runs Monday -- Friday 8am -- 7pm.

The successful candidate will be motivated and hardworking and will need experience in caring for haematology patients. They should be competent or have experience in cannulation and phlebotomy, the management of central lines and administration of SACT. We will support you through additional training that may be required for the role.

Main duties of the job

As a band 6 Sister/Charge nurse, they will act as a role model for junior team members in the delivery of a consistent high standard of nursing practice. Organise workloads in-line with clinical priorities with the ability to work autonomously and also as part of a team.

Within this role, the successful applicant will demonstrate excellent clinical leadership and communication skills and will be responsible for supporting the unit manager with the co-ordination of the service.

You will be supported in this post by the Unit Manager and team, Matron for Haematology and the Lead Haematology nurse.
