Job summary
"We have exciting opportunity for an experienced, motivated, enthusiastic, dynamic and
reflective candidate to lead the MRI team at Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) Birmingham
and to work collaboratively with the MRI modality lead for the Heartlands/Good Hope and
Solihull sites.
UHB is one of the largest teaching hospital trusts in England, serving a regional, national,
and international population. Comprised of multiple sites, the successful candidates will be
primarily based at based at QEH.
The Imaging Directorate provides 24/7 service delivery and has an established track record
of service re-design and transformation. Significant investment in imaging has seen the new multi-million pound treatment centre at Heartlands (HTC) open and multiple scanner replacement projects is under way at QEH.
The Queen Elizabeth MRI imaging dept has 6 inhouse MRI scanners, a jointly run research 3T
unit and additional adhoc mobile units. A new 1.5T Sola has come on line this month and one soon to be installed plus an exciting project for a jointly run radiotherapy/imaging MRI facility.
This role would involve collaborative workingwith the lead of the other sites to align polices and procedures.
Applicants will need to have at least 5 years of MRI experience, proven management
experience, evidence of change management, strong interpersonal skills and show evidence
of ongoing professional development.

Main duties of the job
"Provide highly visible and accessible professional leadership and demonstrate expert
knowledge and standards of clinical practice within specialist field.
Lead and manage the MRI team at QEH
Implement all HR Trust policies e.g. discipline, grievance, sickness and absence
management, incident reporting, complaints and violence & aggression.
Responsible for delegated budgetary management of the team.
Act as a point of contact for the Trust within the specialist field of practice.
Participate in Directorate management meetings, including service planning, budget
setting and demand & capacity work.
To ensure adherence to Magnetic resonance imaging equipment in clinical use: safety
guidelines and all other relevant MRI safety guidelines.
Manage the QEH MRI service in terms of governance
Lead and actively participate in service / departmental projects, quality initiatives and
statutory accreditation processes. This will include the setting and monitoring of clinical
standards of care.
Lead local and future workforce planning by monitoring activity trends.
Lead the clinical aspects of scanner replacement projects within the speciality area
Manage the trust side of the externally provided MRI services and monitor quality, activity and any issues or incidents"
