We are looking for a practice manager to join the team at Selly Oak Health Centre, which looks after a patient population of around 7000. The friendly team is made up of 5 GP's, 2 Practice Nurses, 1 Health care assistant and a team of 7 administrative staff. There is a Pharmacy team, paramedic and social prescriber who support the practice to deliver high quality patient care. The practice is part of University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

The Practice Managers main objective in the practice is to support the Practice in the achievement of clinical excellence, patient safety and quality improvement. The motivated individual will drive innovation and support the development of improved performance in service delivery in the practice.

This will include working with colleagues within UHB and also the wider primary care community i.e. PCN

Previous Primary Care management experience is not essential for this role; individuals without previous NHS experience are welcome to apply and will need to demonstrate transferable business and management skills

Main duties of the job

The practice manager has responsibility for effective day to day management and coordination of all aspects of the practice, from motivating and managing staff to optimising efficiency and financial performance. This varied role will ensure the practice achieves its long-term goals in a safe and effective working environment. Areas that will support this will be through developing innovative ways of working, leading the team in promoting Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, Quality, Confidentiality, Collaborative Working, Service Delivery, Learning and Development and ensure the practice complies with CQC regulations.

The role requires an individual who is confident in managing staff and has strong leadership skills. We are looking for someone who is capable of balancing strategic, operational and financial management alongside the day to day leadership for human resources, health and safety, IT and quality improvement. The Practice Manager will work with the Clinical Lead GP to develop plans for service delivery and quality development.

The successful candidate should be adaptable and able to understand and respond to the diverse and dynamic nature of the role, being able to balance the needs of the Practice with the ever-changing challenges of providing primary healthcare. The individual will need to be able to work with a multi professional team who are driven to improve the patient experience.
