Job summary

We are seeking an enthusiastic outstanding clinician who may be Specialist Registrar, at or near completion of training, CCT holder (or equivalent), or established Consultant, to join our Urology team. The post is a replacement of one of our andrology surgeons. The successful candidates will support the penile cancer and benign andrology service at UHB. They will also maintain a practice in ambulatory and core urology as well as contributing to the Urology on-call rota. The successful candidate will be supported by a dedicated team of specialist nurses and specialist trainees and will have regular theatre, outpatient and diagnostic clinics. The post holders will be expected to work on more than one site to fulfil their clinical and non-clinical duties.

Main duties of the job

The department has a wide portfolio of research interests including health services research, clinical trials, and descriptive and observational research. It is anticipated that the post holder will have a research interest and will use the opportunities for collaboration available in the Trust and local Universities. The research program in bladder cancer is linked with the Birmingham Bladder Cancer Institute at the University of Birmingham. A outline of the program is recently published by Bryan, Patel et al in Nature Urology 2021. The unit has conducted major clinical trials ranging from gene therapy to commercial funded trials. Bladder cancer trials portfolio includes: BCPP, BC2001, Tuxedo, ImVIGOR, POTOMAC, BladderPath and RADIO trials. The unit also holds the West Midlands Genomics program hub. We would also expect the following:
