Job summary

An exciting opportunity to join the UHB Safeguarding Children Team as a Children's Liaison Nurse.

The successful post holder will work with staff throughout the Trust, but particularly in our Emergency Departments to ensure that:

*There is consistency in assessment for children and their families

*The established criteria for notification process is understood and implemented

*That information sharing processes are effective, safe and secure

*That children and families who would benefit from early help can be identified and supported.

You must be a registered nurse or children's nurse, and have knowledge of community partners roles in relation to children and young people. You must be able to undertake audits and be able to deliver training in relation to safeguarding to clinical teams in a variety of settings.

The role will suit a committed, energetic and diligent nurse with excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and be confident with IT.

The post holder will need to be flexible and be able to demonstrate an understanding of and commitment to team working.

You will receive support and supervision to assist your development in a fast paced, acute environment. You will work closely with the Safeguarding Team and will be in contact daily with clinical teams in the Acute and Community Settings.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will:

*Establish and maintain systems to ensure appropriate information sharing from Acute to Community Health Care providers in relation to relevant attendances and admissions.

*Work closely with the UHB Safeguarding Children Specialist Team to ensure that there is robust audit of safeguarding assessment and reporting of safeguarding concerns in the Emergency Department and at points of discharge from hospital services.

*Enhance skill of practitioners in identifying families and children requiring early help.
