Job summary
This post is for a Consultant Cardiologist based at Good Hope Hospital, part of UHB. The successful applicant will be experienced in adult general cardiology, will share the management of cardiology patients admitted to GHH Cardiology wards, the Chest Pain Assessment Unit and will provide care for his/her own patients admitted to the Trust. Diagnostic angiography will be performed at BHH. In addition, he/she will be experienced in coronary intervention and permanent pacemaker implantation and will participate in the Trust's elective and non-elective PCI programme which is provided at BHH.
Successfully shortlisted candidates can anticipate to be interviewed within 1-2 weeks of advert closure.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be expected to work with local managers and professional colleagues in the efficient running of the service. The appointee will
Join the Cardiology Consultant team to deliver a first class cardiology service and contribute to the development of the service.
Be a full member of the Consultant body of the Trust and accountable to the Clinical Service Lead, Dr R Watkin.
Deliver agreed standards of care and work, with MDTs, to improve standards where appropriate*
Support directorate with meeting KPI's
Provide continuing patient care in partnership with consultant colleagues across the 3 sites
Allow greater flexibility through effective cover of sickness and annual leave
Provide professional supervision, direction and training for junior medical staff
Take an active role in audit, research, teaching and governance
Experience in cardiac catheterisation and PCI essential
Experience in permanent pacemaker implantation essential
Participate in the BHH Interventional/Primary PCI on call rota -- 1:8
Participate in local day time on call at GHH and review of cardiology admissions
On a rotational basis provide ward cover for Ward 9 at BHH
Participate in plans to lead to cost efficiencies across the Directorate*
