Trainee ACCP posts
We are looking for high quality candidates to join our expanding team of Advanced Critical Care Practitioners (ACCPs), as trainee ACCPs at one of the largest critical care departments in the UK which operates across three hospital sites at University Hospitals Birmingham Trust, these trainee posts will be primarily based at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital site although rotation to other sites will be expected
We are looking for highly motivated, dynamic individuals, with the ability to work and adapt in a large challenging critical care environment. The ACCP teams support the medical and nursing teams to deliver high quality care to complex critically ill patients, from many tertiary specialties, providing leadership, expertise, advice and support on the Critical Care Units. The role also involves formulating complex treatment plans, inserting invasive lines, managing advanced airways and independent prescribing for critically ill patients, amongst many other advanced skills required for the post.
Main duties of the job
Whilst training the successful candidates will be expected to undertake a Post Graduate Certificate in Advanced Critical Care Practice for 2 years, alongside continuous assessment and a Faculty of Critical Care Medicine (FICM) portfolio, if successful they will join the team of qualified ACCPs, you will then be expected to complete an MSc project or dissertation.
The successful applicants should be able to exercise a high degree of personal professional autonomy and integrity to make critical judgments to satisfy the expectations and demands of the role. You must have excellent interpersonal and clinical skills, which will be assessed as part of the interview process.
As we operate a 24/7 service, you will be required to work a 24/7 rota across all areas of critical care at UHB
