Job summary
Due to the restoration of Elective Orthopaedic surgery and day case procedures at Good Hope Hospital we are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated, innovative Physiotherapist who is interested in working in the field of orthopaedic therapy. The orthopaedic caseload you will be expected to cover will include joint replacements, upper and lower limb day case procedures such as ACL reconstructions and arthroscopic shoulder surgeries.
You will need good clinical skills and experience, a flexible approach, including excellent team working, organisational and time management skills. You will join a developing team who are in the process of an exciting service transformation, where there will be ample opportunities for service development projects.

Applicants must be prepared to participate in the departmental respiratory physiotherapy overnight on-call system, 7 day working rota within the T&O therapy teams and evening day case service.
The post holder could already be a Band 6 wishing for a change or are you currently an experienced Band 5 who would like to practice Trauma and Orthopaedics at a more senior level.
Main duties of the job
Applicants must have BSc Physiotherapy, be HPCP registered with post graduate experience and evidence of completing core rotations and working within Trauma and Orthopaedics.
Evidence of appropriate CPD activity and post graduate courses is essential
You will be expected to hold responsibility for own case load and be responsible for a defined area of the service, working without direct supervision. Supervision takes the form of regular formal training and clinical reasoning sessions, peer review, case conferences. Access to advice and support from senior physiotherapists is available, clinical work is not routinely evaluated.
To undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner and maintain associated records. To participate in the site on-call respiratory physiotherapy out of hours service once training has been provided and deemed competent.
To assist with supervision, education and assessment of the performance of physiotherapy students; this would be to a graduate standard and involve working with universities to ensure the standard of practice and teaching meets the standards set by the degree level qualification. To assist with supervision, education and co-ordination of generic therapy assistants, and junior therapy staff.
