Job summary
The UHBFT Education Directorate is the largest provider of medical education in the West Midlands and we have embarked on an exciting programme of work to transform our medical education infrastructure, supporting medical undergraduate and post-graduate education, through the creation of The UHBFT Medical Academy. We are at the start of our journey and with this comes the opportunity to appoint a Head of Medical Academy. The post holder will oversee the strategic and operational delivery of The Medical Academy seeking new ways to work and greater efficiency through innovation and transformation across the medical education portfolio with sharper focus on purpose and the quality of the learner experience.
The post holder will develop a robust and cohesive governance framework, strategy and business plan for The Medical Academy, which is synergistic with Trust Education Strategy and the Medical workforce strategy, to support the medical staff in developing their full potential in the delivery of care for our patients. Reporting to the Managing Director of Education and Medical Director -- Education, the post holder will provide operational leadership in the execution of plans to develop and deliver the Medical Academy strategic objectives. The role will ensure excellence in the operational delivery of medical education and enable effective matrix working across the Education Directorate.
Main duties of the job
To be successful in this role the post holder will be a senior experienced clinician and leader with a comprehensive understanding of medical education for success in this role. You will provide clear leadership in developing and embedding the UHB Medical Academy strategy through effective engagement with regional partners, academic alliances, clinical and non-clinical teams. With a proven track record you will lead the strategic development, delivery and operational management of the UHB Medical Academy and the co-ordination and design of programmes of work across the UHB Medical Academy structure.
Holding strategic accountability you will work with control processes and risk management arrangements to ensure full compliance with education governance, quality assurance, oversight and accountability for the UHB Medical Academy. Leading the development of the UHB Medical Academy governance framework you will provide assurance as to the quality of teaching and learning at UHB and continuously improve the learning environment and experience of our learners/trainees and locally employed doctors. You will lead to develop the Medical Academy model across UHB as a model for endorsing high quality learning experiences and resources to support all learners/trainees within the UHB Medical Academy ensuring alignment of UHB Medical Academy interventions with service and organisational need and congruent with HEE/ICB mandate/priorities.
