We are excited to invite applications for a Consultant Anaesthetist at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham (QEHB).
Successful applicants will undertake anaesthetic sessions across a range of surgical specialties including general surgery, trauma, plastics, urology and gynaecology. The current opportunity is for a consultant to join the dedicated team based mainly at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham although there is an option to undertake some sessions at Solihull Hospital, Birmingham Heartlands Hospital and Good Hope Hospital if the successful candidate prefers.
The appointee will be expected to participate in the Divisional and Departmental audit programme, as well as in both undergraduate and postgraduate teaching.

Main duties of the job
The core component of this post is to provide anaesthetic cover for a variety of surgical services.
Due to retirement we are looking to recruit a Consultant Anaesthetist (General Duties). Successful applicants will undertake anaesthetic sessions across a range of surgical specialties including general surgery, trauma, plastics, urology and gynaecology.
The current opportunity is for a Consultant to join the dedicated team based at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham although there are opportunities to build a job plan including work on our other sites if the candidate prefers. There are a total of 10 PAs within the job which could be filled by a variety of options from currently uncovered lists and flexible cover for consultant leave.

The on-call commitments are to both the General on-call rota covering emergency theatres and also to the out of hours Thrombectomy service. It is envisaged that the successful candidate will participate in these rotas (currently combined to give a frequency of 1 in 10).

We are world-renowned for our trauma care and have developed pioneering surgical techniques in the management of ballistic and blast injuries, including bespoke surgical solutions for previously unseen injuries. We are a designated a Level 1 Trauma Centre and host of the UK's only 20m National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Surgical Reconstruction and Microbiology Research Centre (SRMRC).
