Job summary

We are looking for 2 consultant colorectal surgeons to join our dynamic colorectal and general surgical team at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust (UHB).

The first post will be predominantly based at Heartlands and Solihull Hospitals and will have a specialist interest in colorectal surgery and general paediatric surgery.

The second post will be predominantly based at Good Hope and Solihull Hospitals and will have a specialist interest in colorectal surgery and robotic surgery.

Main duties of the job

The post holders will be responsible, together with other members of the department for the provision of a high quality service to complement the existing sub-specialisation within the department. The final job plan would be agreed on appointment; however, the successful candidate would be expected to undertake the following;

To manage average of 2 theatre sessions per week

To manage average of 1-2 outpatient clinics per week

To manage 1 colonoscopy list per week

To participate in colorectal cancer multidisciplinary meetings

To provide specialist advice to colleagues

To work to directorate agreed management guidelines

To take part in a 1 in 8 on-call general surgical rota
