Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a suitably qualified, enthusiastic Senior Physiotherapist (band 7) to join our Oncology / Haematology service.This Senior Physiotherapist (Team Leader) post is predominantly Oncology in-patient focused & this includes a role within the Teenager and Young Adults (TYA) Service with a small amount of outpatient working to meet their needs. As part of your role you will also support & cross cover the Haematology caseload.The successful individual will take a lead role in the specialist assessment & treatment of patients who present with complex needs & will liaise closely with other professionals & agencies to optimise patients' physical outcomes.There is a strong commitment to multi professional service delivery in conjunction with the Occupational Therapists in this area. There are strong & supportive working relationships with Senior Therapists, Consultants & Senior Nursing staff within these specialties as well as Palliative Care & close links with local hospices.This is an exciting time to join the team as the trust starts to plan how to implement prehabilitation & rehabilitation for these patient groups. You would have the opportunity to be involved in this process, working closely with senior staff across specialities.The Physiotherapy Service actively supports individual CPD and personal development.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will work alongside another Band 7 Senior Physiotherapist (Team Leader) and will share line management responsibility for a small team. This includes supporting staff development, clinical teaching of staff and undergraduates who are on placement within the specialty as well as service and policy development.This is an ideal opportunity for someone who wishes to develop their clinical leadership skills and broaden their experience working within this specialty area.The successful individual will take a lead role in the advanced assessment and treatment of complex patients and be proactive in developing clinical practice within this specialty area.Key skills for this post include confidence in communication, strong leadership, collaborative working with peers, and a personal desire to develop. You must be able to demonstrate excellent time management skills day to day, as a well as proactive management of team operational planning such as appraisals, rotation planning and new staff induction.Candidates should have significant general acute in patient experience.
