The successful applicant will support the team to carry out its statutory function which is promoting the health and wellbeing of children looked after.
Main duties of the job
To be professionally accountable for the delivery of standards of professional practice as set out by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
To undertake the role and responsibilities of Children Looked After for Bromley Healthcare as detailed in Looked After Children: roles and competencies of health care staff, Intercollegiate Document, 2020.
This includes health assessments that are out of the Borough.
To facilitate and support clinical practice relating to Children Looked After, which is consistent with current professional standards and promotes best practice.
To work in collaboration with service providers across the local health economy and with partner agencies within and outside of Bromley, to ensure that the health of children Looked After is a key priority for practice and service provision.

Job responsibilities
1.1 To act as a source of specialist advice, guidance and support on health matters as related to Children Looked After, for all health care staff and partner agencies.
1.2 To act as a reference point for children and their carers to address the health needs of Children Looked After. This will include advice on contraceptive and sexual health, drug and alcohol misuse and smoking cessation.
1.3 To maintain in-depth knowledge of legislation, national and local policies that affect Children Looked After.
1.4 To maintain in-depth knowledge on matters associated with the health, safety and welfare of children, in support of the Safeguarding Children agenda.
1.5 To assist and support health care practitioners on legal matters, as relating to children who are subject of court proceedings, working in collaboration with other key professionals (e.g. Named Doctor for Children Looked After, Named Professionals for Safeguarding and Designated Professionals for Children Looked After and Safeguarding).
1.6 To act as a source of reference and resource on Children Looked After health matters for out of borough agents/agencies, to ensure that continuity of care is maintained for individual children on their placement within and outside of Bromley.
1.7 To facilitate and maintain effective communication and liaison systems, within and across Organisations and with partner agencies, following local and out of Bromley arrangements.
1.8 To identify, develop and maintain professional networks and alliances to facilitate timely delivery of health services to Children Looked After according to need.
1.9 To undertake comprehensive Children Looked After health assessments in and out of Borough, in accordance with agreed policies and procedures and role requirements. This may need to be reviewed frequently to ensure processes are compliant with local and national drivers.
1.10 When required to oversee and co-ordinate health assessment activities as undertaken by other professionals within the organisation (health visitors and school nurses) for CLA.

- Registered Nurse or similar
- Completed specific professional training in the care of babies/children and young people. Knowledge of Children Looked After legislation, policy and practice. Minimum of three years' experience related to caring for babies/children and young people.
Desirable

- ENB 998 or Teaching qualification
- Evidence of Personal Professional Development
- PGDIP / Masters' Degree in related subject desirable
