GP Assistant - Bromley PCN - Band 3

£27,129 - £28,649 Inclusive of Hcas

Bromley is an outer London borough with a diverse population where we are pioneering pathways to care for the local population by delivering NHS services using Neighbourhood teams integrated between Primary Care Networks and Bromley Healthcare. Exciting opportunities are available for cross-sector working in a variety of posts resourced via the 'Additional Roles Reimbursement Scheme' (ARRS).

We are developing a 'Neighbourhood' model as per the vision in the Fuller Stocktake report, with a focus on preventative and proactive care and helping patients see the right clinician at the right time as shown by our newly established Wellbeing Cafe. We are looking to recruit into a variety of roles to support this exciting new approach to integrated care which enables us to deliver the best possible care and outcomes.

GP Assistants work alongside GPs within the surgery undertaking any task that enables them to undertake their role more efficiently and effectively. They help to free up GPs time and contribute to the smooth running of appointments and improving patients' experience.

The GP Assistant role was initially developed to safely deliver a combination of routine administrative tasks and some basic clinical duties in the general practice setting.

Main duties of the job

The focus being on supporting GPs in their day-to-day management of patients, specifically aimed at reducing the administrative burden, making best use of consultation time, and supporting those particularly vulnerable to isolation who are regular attenders at the practice.

  • Educated to GCSE or A Level standard or equivalent qualification in English & Maths

Experience

Essential

  • A good knowledge of community health and social care systems
  • Previous experience of working in a health or social care setting

Desirable

  • Experience of carrying out simple clinical tasks e.g. phlebotomy

  • Ability to follow administrative processes and procedures
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with both patients and colleagues
